German College Students Helping Homeless With Music? You’ve Gotta See This.

College students in Germany are helping the homeless in their community in a very beautiful way – with music! They sit down with the people on the streets, who are often overlooked and walked past, and start playing music with a tip jar or hat. Not only does it help raise money, but it also brings awareness to the unseen and avoided people who are suffering and in need. You may have heard about this video or seen it already, but we want to point out something that has drawn them criticism but we think is classy and shows their respect for the people they serve. The homeless man shown in this video is an actor. They’ve faced criticism for this, but when you learn why it makes sense. They’ve been doing this type of work and wanted to inspire others to use their gifts to help. To do this, they wanted to make a video but were torn about how they could do this and not further strip the dignity of the people they work with. Not to mention there would have to be an awkward moment of asking their permission to film them and justify why they wanted to do it. In my mind, they chose the best option, hire an actor to be representative of the work they do. Knowing it is an actor doesn’t change the way the video impacts me and how it makes the unseen visible to those walking by. Check out the video and let us know what you think.

As a side note of interest, it is surprising how many
